Default hatch only poping sometimes ?

Have a 94 s10 4.3 4x4 engine w truck and I have to push the hatch button a million times supper fast to get it to pop every once in a while. Any ideas as to where I should look for solutions? Tryed searching the forum and couldnt find anything for 1gen s10's. Seems to me like it's not getting enough juice or something. Also a side note, when I operate the windows or locks the digital display will dim and then as soon as I release the window button it goes back to normal again.

first off the rear hatch issue, your linkage hasnt moved on ya has it? they only pop when fairly centered on the P or N could be as simple as an adjustment there (same prob with my 94 awhile back) another possibility is the actuator is old and getting tired or maybe even a loose connection for that matter electrical gremlins suck. As for the dimming issue personally id do the big 3 upgrade first off and see if that solves it good idea to do anyways if you plan to keep the truck around for awhile even more so if you have added any extra electrical doodads (lights, aftermarket stereo equipment etc.)

My glass only popped on the third or fourth pop of the button, too. I had to adjust the latch mechanism on the tailgate to make it work consistently - previous owner had the mechanism all the way up in the adjuster slot (making it dang hard to close and latch the glass, too).
