got a 85 s10 pick up. the heater motor works fine, spins fast. but hardly any air comes out. at first i figured a mouse built a house in front of the heatercore. tore apart under the dash and the fanbox under the hood and didnt see any blockage. also theres no leaks. i let it run on high and felt all around under the dash and under the hood. when i blast it on high its at about what low would be on a newer vehicle. so it takes forever to defrost or warm up in there. anyone had this problem?

its a $150 truck so the body on it is crap, it has that split between the fenders and door, could the air be blowing out there somewhere?

Mine, even on the low speed, can cook me out of the truck. Maybe you need to clean or replace the heater core.

 

The heat itself is warm its just not blowing as hard as it should so my high is like your low.

 

Then it must be loose somewhere, or maybe the heater core is blocked up like I said. Just because it's warm doesn't mean the air isn't still having trouble flowing past the fins of the heater core. Check it for bent fins. Something is blocking the airflow. Since you've taken the dash apart, pull off each tube individually worked from the start of the blower and up to the dash till you find the blocked, missing or disconnected tube. My truck will honestly roast my face off w/ the heat it puts out along w/ the airflow.

 

figured it out. someone put the wrong direction fan on the blower motor lol. i figured it was blockage too. had a suburban i got out of a field and had the same issue, a mouse filled up the heater box with garbage.

so basically it was spinning the right way it just wasnt really cupping any air

 

my 84 s10 blazer does the same thing the heat is hot but theres now air pressure maybe ill try to replace my blower motor how hard was it to get to?

 

It itself is really easy to get at. The bottom bolt is kinda a pain to get out. Other then that I took it out like 5 times messing with it. I have no AC either

 

did the dash have to come out or am i thinking of the heater core?

 

You're thinkin of the heater core. The fan blower is on the firewall in the very top left corner, you can't miss it.

 

yeah like i said its real easy to get out just that bottom bolt is kinda tricky. my truck is just a turd work truck, i went in there with a prybar and bent the wheel well a little bit and was able to get at it no problem
