Default help! my "Beulah" needs some TLC

hey ya'll I'm new here but I've got an '89 S-10 4.3L 4x4 that won't start. we've done all the usual trouble-shootin' stuff, checked battery, wires and connections. we even pulled the starter and took it in to be tested. Checked out fine. we cleaned it up real good and reinstalled, but now she won't even click, where she was before. at first(before we pulled the starter) she'd click a few times on the first crank, but nothing, then the second we'd get maybe three clicks, after a third crank not a sound. but after reinstalling the still good starter, not a single click. So where's my next step and/or solution guys?

Did you try to tap it with a hammer while someone turns key? sometimes a sticky starter will test just fine at store.

1) Where did you get the starter tested?

As a former [undisclosed] auto parts store employee (the big ones use the same tester anyway) I wouldn't fully trust the starter tests. Since they don't test your starter under load like it would be in the truck, it really isn't accurate.

You might want to reconsider the possibility of a bad starter.

2) You should get the battery tested. I know you said you "checked" it, but what did that include exactly? Auto Zone and Oreilly battery testers are actually pretty accurate.

3) Check the battery connections. Are you getting a good ground? Is the positive lead getting a good connection to the battery and the starter?

X2 its really a temporary fix but it'll get it started.

+1 on checking the battery connections and wires. They can be easy to overlook.
