Help a newbie - just bought 93 Blazer

If you have power locks the switch will be located right next to the manual lock. If it is not working then the fuse is the most likely problem. As for an owners manual you should be able to find one in pdf form online. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a hard copy on ebay. While checking that fuse I would suggest checking the rest incase any others are blown. Remember to keep spares onhand for that fuse that are of the appropriate amperage. If it blew once it may blow again.

yeah that hillbilly method will work too, HAHAHAHA! yes the ABS and 4WD selector systems are tied together (GM had a recall for my '92 Jimmy 'cause the ABS wouldn't always work in 4HI). you never replied to g_mike's question if your truck had the Auto 4WD system or not?

does it have 4hi, 4LO 4 auto and 2hi? mine has 4 buttons.
if its not doing anything pop the switch out and check to make sure it is plugged in. you may have to remove the dash frams that goes around the deck, dash cluster and some other switches (good time to put in a aftermarket deck and sub rca cables for your system you are about to buy jkz)

Also if you you didn't notice I made a mistake on the year above. I had 2003 on my brain because of a Town and Country that I'm working on too. My S10 Blazer is a 1993 not 2003, automatic with vortec engine.

1 year, in the same model, makes a big difference. look at the '91 Cavalier's, new body style/new car, but built with the same s**ty brakes as the previous generation. it wasn't upgraded 'til '92 (i guess after they realized how they screwed up on that one).

But the recall lists my year, 1993, but somehow GM says MY 1993 wasn't recalled.

could be your truck was built after the recall date? this happens all the time. the dumb asses higher up, realize something isn't right, and figure out that it was between this day and that day. well, if your truck was built the day before, or after, it's not affected (so they think/say).
you mentioned that the wheels "locked up" on you, are the tires the correct "factory" size? are they really worn out? 'cause the ABS works off of a predetermined tire diameter, and, if the tires are worn out, or have been swapped out for another size, the computer will not be able to interpret this variance as wheel lock up until it's aready happening.
look at the sticker inside the door jamb of your truck (this will have the factory issue tire size for your truck). this is very important, 'cause not all Blazer's/Jimmy's have the same tire size. what is important to remember is that the computer needs the same tire diameter, to fuction properly. so a tire can be wider than stock, so long as the sidewall is compensated for. the wider the tire, the lower the profile, to achive the same O/A tire diameter.

go to a parking lot drive up to the curb and stop(don't try to get a rolling start) in 2wd try to drive up the curb, your back wheels will probaly spin and it will be hard to go over the curb.
Now back up, put it in 4x4, drive back up to the curb and try to drive up the curb it should go up the curb pretty easily in 4x4.
just because the light doesnt come on doesnt mean that its not working the light bulb could just be out.
Also the reason I said to back up is, some times it helps to engage the 4x4 if you roll a little bit.
