how to fix ciggarette lighter
hey, do u guys kno how to fix a broken cigarette lighter, i got this Mio GPS the other day and it connects to the ciggarette lighter for power.....mine broke so unless i get it fixed i have a 400$ paper weight with a touch screen
It should be the ctsy fuse....usually
A common fault is that the lighter element gets ruined by a build-up of crap and then when it gets pushed into the lighter housing it shorts out and blows the fuse.

look for the fuse that says INST (instrament) or INT sometimes they are linked with the Radio fuse.
Forgot have to remove ashtray first then do below
To replace the ELEMENT you have to remove the bracket (two screws some have bolts) pull out mount, remove ground and hot wire from lighter, With no power to it its safe to input thumb to hold element from moving use pair of plyers to turn the cheap case retainerfrom behind it like a twist cap. Unscrew this all the way off, pull out element. Take your $5 avg cost replacement and remove that rear retainer, reverse removal to install.
