Default How Hard Install is Encoder Motor on 94

I'm a newbie here and like the rest of us if I can save a few dollars I will try. I was quoted $650.00 for parts and installation for an Encoder Motor on a 1994 S10 Blazer. Does anyone know how tough it is to install an Encoder Motor? Any ideas other than a dealership where one can be bought? I am going to try some junk yards. Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank You

It's pretty simple, about 3 bolts and a wiring harness connection. If you have a small rock guard at the transfer case, take that off for better access.

Hi Chevy Lover,

I see you are very knowledgeable (I've checked out quite a few other threads). Do you know where, other than a dealer that this can be picked up. When I call NAPA or a Junk Yard, they have never heard of it and need a part number to cross-reference to. Or is there another name that this piece might be called?

Again, Thank You

This is probably only available as a dealer part, or you could trya salvage yard. Call the dealer and ask how much for just the part. Tell them that you'll do the work yourself.

Thank You Brian. I called the dealer today and they said the part was $432.00. I read in another post (I'll try to find it) that someone else found it at NAPA for $155.00, but maybe it's not the same part. I'll try calling a couple of salvage yards tomorrow. Do you think that the encoder motor might go by any other name?
