I bought a new tailgate handle for my 93 s10 blazer. From what I can see the install is straight forward, but when I turn it to the left to pop the glass, the handle acts like it's stripped out and just keeps turning way past it's supposed to.

turn to the right and it stops but doesn't pop the latch.

does the 'hook' on the latch hook into something or just press against the latch inside the tailgate?
