I have the complete factory manuals for an '86 Blazer - 2.8 4WD...do you think it would be the same? Thumbed thru them and the wiring diagrams are extensive...way beyond the simple ones found in the chiltons man. If this will help, let me know what you'd like and I'll scan the pages and send them to you.

That might be a really big help, if the info is in there somewhere. The place I am stuck at is, not knowing what voltage to find on each pin for the ECM, whether its ground, 12V, or something in between.

The thing is, I won't plug any more ECMs into it, until I know I won't blow it up :-) so if anything you have, refers to voltage levels at the ECM that I could compare mine to, that would be exactly what I need.

I got some junkyard connectors, and made a sort of 'breakout box' that allows me to connect up each pin, or open a line and so I could just connect everything up, one line at a time until I blow up another ECM <g> but its not really all that easy to plug each wire in without screwing up another, or shorting something. Gets kind of crowded, especially on the bigger connector.

So if you have any references to voltages and grounds at the ECM, that would be a really big help. I suspect that an 86 might not share the same computer, but the inputs levels from each sensor, to the ECMs would likely be the same. Its not the space shuttle or anything :-)

Thanks very much for anything you might be able to find and forward to me. I appreciate your time.

I wish I could spend a day with the GM manuals that the dealers have :-)
This is the 3rd ECM? I say try a 4rth; maybe 7th.

j/k...

Total solution right here, in less than one week:

at $50 a pop, you are talking pretty big bucks :-)

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. I have gone over everything I can find, used the info folks have been kind enough to provide, and have no idea what is bombing the ECMs.

I put it up for sale, and it would be nice if people showed up when they said they would. So far, I am just getting jerked around. I want $650 for it, and have been very up front about the problem. The wheels, tires, and engine are worth way more than that, so it seems no one really wants it. I get tired of people asking me to come down a few hundred dollars, so at the end of this week, it will be off to the crusher. This can't be ruling my life like it is, I have things to do.

Everyone has been great, and I appreciate the ideas and suggestions. It does burn me good that I cannot figure a logical way to approach the problem, but since its my daughter's truck, not mine, and I have three vehicles of my own to contend with, I am not investing any more time and money into it.
