Default ignition switch replacement

I am having trouble replacing my ignition switch on my 1993 S-10 chevy blazer 4x4. I thought it might be the reason that my ign/gau fuse keep blowing. Also there is no current in the inst/lps fues circuit. I have a thread relating to this problem but I thought that a new thread would be best. So here's the problem. When I removed the old switch in my haste I did not note the position of the actuator or linkage rod that connects to the switch. So the rod sits at a 90 dergree angle and the switch sits at a 45 dergree angle so when i try to connection the two there is tenison on the rod. So I guess I am missing something. I am not a mechanic but somewhat mechanicly incline (I think) I have came across diagrams but they are vauge in as much as showing how tho rod connects to the switch. Please help if there are pictures that would be great.
