Default Installing a new motor... Need Help!!!

I have a 91 Chevy Blazer S10 4x4. I am installing a new motor and have run up on a problem. On the new motor the threeded shaft is coming out of the motor to screw on an oil filter. As you know this model has an oil filter adapter on it and does not have an oil filter on the motor. I dont remember seeing that shaft on the old motor. Does that shaft need to be removed before installing the oil filter adapter or does it stay on the motor. The adapter will fit on the motor with the threded shaft still on it, but i dont know it i need to leave it or remove it..

Thanks so much for any advice....

The one with the adapter does not need the shaft for the oil filter. the adapter has 2 bolts, oring, and a gasket that the adapter mounts too, then runs to a remote filter on the fender.

Remove the threaded shaft from the new motor and install the adapter. go to advance auto and get the dorman "help" Part No. 8256. its like 5 bucks and contains the oring etc that you need.

Default Thanks...

Thank you so much... Thats what i thought but was not sure... I picked up the oring and gasket set today and plan on droping in the new motor in the morning. Can't wait to get it back on the road... Just had it for about two weeks before the rod cap broke in several pieces and the rod wedged in between the crank and the cam and locked it up tight...

No problem.
Here is a tip if you are working under it on the ground,Wrap a few layers of electrical tape around the bottom of the bolt heads for the adapter. If you dont the bolts will slide out and **** you off multiple times like it did me since you barely have any room lol..

edit : 2nd though...Install the adapter while the motors out! score.
