Default instrument cluster lights go out

need some help - have a '94 S-10 Blazer and the cluster lights randomly go out. Smack the dash and they come back on(if they want/if not, smack some more)
Wasn't sure if its most likely just a loose connection behind the dash or not....any suggestions would be great.......thanks

Digital or analog gauges. But either way, what odat said, most likely a cold solder joint. If you pull the cluster and go over each solder joint with some fresh solder (no need to remove the old solder) it will be working right.

Now, the reason I asked if its analog or digital, will determine on how many solder joints you have to do LOL

Oh boy. I have had my digital cluster apart to repair the power supply, LOTS of solder connections on them. LOTS

Does the backing light go out? Or does the engine cluster lose power?
