Default issues with my s10 blazer (1991)

hello,

first of all , this is a great forum :-)
i just bought a s10 blazer first gen , it runs good and has 110 miles on it.
but there are a couple things i would ask .

it has a digital cluster ,
the odometer flickers and switch itselfs from the odometer to the tripmeter and so on , sometimes the odometer goes black.
so this is the first issue;

the second one is : the temp meter will not go above 110 degrees .so it keeps low reading , can this be due the thermostat or a bad tem sender? ( i noticed that the radiatorfan keeps turning as soon if i start the engine)

and the thirth issue is that the oil pressure still stay high (85 psi) sometimes it goes to 65 psi but as soon if i accelerate a little it goes back to the top

kind regards.

vincent

My 91 had the digital instrument cluster. It went black except for a couple spots and I took it to a local speedometer shop and had it rebuilt. No more problems for 11 years and it still worked when I got rid of the truck. I'd have yours repaired before digging too deep into the cooling or oil system. They may be operating fine. I still miss the turn signal indicators. They were the coolest looking ever! Here's hoping solving the first problem takes care of the other two.

for the cluster , i gonna take a look at the soldering at the back of the cluster.
but i just also noticed that the radiator fan starts to turn around as soon as the engine is started .
is this normal? or this truck have a radiator fan clutch?

Yes, it has a fan clutch and it's normal for the fan to spin when the engines running even during cold start.

so first the cluster then the water temp sender and the oil pressure sender maybe.

With the engine shut down - and make sure nobody turns the key, check if you can turn the fan by hand.
It should have some drag but should turn when being pushed with one finger.

hello again,
i tested the fan clutch and it's okay , i can turn the fan with the engine off and feel a bit drag.

is it possible to test the coolant temp sensor without taking it out? and where is the location of the sensor?
is it just one or are there 2 sensors? (maybe a switch or so)

thx
