A really dead battery won't take a jump. I'd make sure it's okay and that there's no corrosion or other problems with your battery cables before I started fishing anywhere else.

You didn't see any mushroom clouds last night did you? Sounds like your neighborhood got hit by an electromagnetic pulse

When you tried to jump it, did any lights come on? If so, change the starter relay, and if that doesn't help, its the starter or the starter solenoid.

Have you checked the back of the solenoid for a loose wire? Or check the battery cable and termanal there self. Sounds like something happen to were the vehicle lost power and was running off alternator. then you shut it off and of coure its not going to start because of the power issue from the battery or the wire/Solenoid.

How bout the ground strap? If that sucker blew out, couldn't it cause this problem after shorting out and draining the system?
