Default Just realized - HOW do I engage 4wd?

Well, the markings are about worn off the 4hi/4low switch so I thought that the switch was 4wd/2wd. ('93 S10 blazer 4x4)

So it seems I've been going in the wrong direction with things.

So now that I know it's a hi/low switch, how do you actually engage the trans into 4wd? I see no other switches nor any 4wd markings on the gear shift.

Anyone? I don't have the manual so I do not know the proper procedure to attempt to get 4wd engaged. Do you have to be stopped? Does it have to be in N? Does the engine have to be running or just have the key to RUN so it has power?

I'd hate to run down why it's not engaging and then find out that I was trying to engage it incorrectly to begin with and be the reason why it didn't work.

I have a Haynes manual on the way but don't have it yet and don't know if it contains information that the owner's manual would have on operations such as this.

you have alot of threads going rastoma, don't duplicate your questions. your 4WD system will engauge whether you're driving down the highway going 70MPH, or sitting in the parking lot (4HI, not 4LO).

I haven't duplicated my questions.

This is the first time I asked HOW to engage 4wd. The other questions had to do with it not engaging because I misunderstood what the switch on the dash was for.

I explained that in the other thread already.

I thought the switch on the dash was an on/off switch, I did not know it was 4hi/4lo (markings rubbed off). So when I realized it was 4hi/4lo THEN I asked so how do I turn on 4wd initially.

I have since found out the specifics.

ok, i'll give ya that they're not directly the same question. but if you figured it out on your other thread, then why would you start a new thread, and not just inform everyone watching that thread your "second" question?

So what is your problem?

You keep '***-u-ming' things that I didn't say or do.

No that I have to explain... but.....

I didn't figure it out in the OTHER thread. I got the answer at another forum AFTER I posted THIS thread that we are in now after no one replied to it.

The other thread contained multiple questions that may of which were not addressed so the focus of the thread was lost so I thought it would be more beneficial to ask a more specific question in another thread.

I just found out the answer a day or so before your reply here and haven't had time to update the thread by the time you replied.

Excuse me for causing so many problems around here.
