Default Long cranking time 86 2.8 tbi

Just picked up a cheap 86 blazer that runs good. However it takes 10 plus seconds for it to crank over before it starts. I had someone else crank it over while I looked in the throttle body and I could see that it wouldn't start spraying fuel into the intake for quite awhile but when it started spraying fuel in it started right up. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems, I'm thinking its likely the fuel check valve but I wanted to get more opinions before I bought an expensive part that wont fix it.

check the fuel pressure and/or change the fuel filter it may have never been changed and just takes a while to the right pressure to push through the clogged filter.

i believe my 1990 silverado with a tbi runs off oil pressure but i might be wrong, like you crank it til the oil pressure goes up which enables the fuel pump relay. so i was told anyways.

I definitely need to get a fuel pressure gauge so I can test that, I'm going to need one anyways since I'm going to school to be a mechanic. Fuel filters are cheap so I might try that. I'm just trying to get it running decent so I can sell it at a profit.

yeah fuel filter should be a easy thing to do first if you dont feel like buying a gauge yet. i think these should have threaded inline filters so spray down those fittings asap as they are probably pretty rusty
