I am looking to buy a 97 Blazer from a friend of mine, for only 440, and they are letting me do payments, so I pretty much don't care whats wrong with it. They say it needs door bushings and that it runs a little bogged down and probably needs the injectors cleaned.
Truck has about 190k miles, and the transmission does NOT slip, and steering is tight.
I know bushings are cheap and easy if you have help, but all I know of to clean injectors are fuel additives. Will this do the trick or is there something else that needs to be done? The Spark plugs and Wires were replaced not long ago, and should be fine. What should I do when I get this truck?
I will have to drive it home 240 miles.
Fueleconomy.org states the truck should get 17-22 MPG, and the owner states they get 15-17, is there anyways to increase this to over 20?
This is a 1997, NOT a 94! I had wrong info!

my dads 92 vin W gets 21 mpg.
Since you got this one so cheap. Go ahead and save yourself heartache down the road and replace the spider assembly and fuel regulator and nut kit in the plenum. It'll cost you couple of hundo's but it will REALLY help everything. They tend to leak and go bad on these and cause all kinds of fuel issues/BOG issues.

If the actual mileage is 15-17, and it's a 4 door then I would say that is about right for 50/50 (city/highway) driving. I am going to put out a bit of personal experience on these trucks - if you need to get better than 15-17, (MPG) then you might want to look at getting something different. The very first thing I would buy is fuel pressure gauge. Even if you don't think the truck is having fuel problems this tool is your best friend for finding fuel issues. This might seem over-the-top, but I wish I had done this first off, get the tools you need to data log your truck. If you have a laptop already all you need is a 65 dollar cable and a free software package to start reading all the vital sensor and operating data.
Things that I would look at once you get the truck in your hands would be the busted motor mounts, exhaust manifolds for cracks, front brakes for wear, trans flush and filter, fuel and oil filter - all this depends on the last owner(s) but somethings can just be inspected and other need to just be replaced like filters.

I dont NEED to get better than 15/17 mpg, its just a personal goal to be as efficient as possible. This truck is just to get me back in the job hunt.
If I drive the 240 miles to look at this vehicle, Im buyin it, i cant afford the trip to come back empty handed, I need a vehicle desperately.
The truck reportedly DOES have bog issues, how much is the spider assembly, fuel regulator, and nut kit? I'll do the work myself, but even so, its $400 for the truck, its a good deal I think...
So lets assume the Spider Assembly, fuel regulator and nut kit are fubar, and i HAVE to replace them, does this truck still equal a good deal?
Links to these parts would be greatly appreciated aswell, are they hard to put in?
VERY sorry for double post! Have to clarify some errors!\
This is a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer 4 Door, 2 Wheel Drive, has 1bout 190,000 Miles, Transmission doesn't slip, and the steering is tight, no major body damage, all superficial.
Truck does however bog down, and I am thinking it might be as suggested the Spider Assembly.
How much does it cost to replace the spider assembly? from what im finding its like $900?!!!!!????? Please get me on the right track! lol
