Default Motor and transmission question. Noob

Hey there, I'm new to this site after I made 2 different names but zoned out on the passwords for my account and email account. So Im trying to restore a '86 chevy s10 blazer rwd 2.8l. So here's what happened truck was owned by my uncle then gave it to my mom and then it sat in my driveway since '02 cancer started chewing at the paint, the paint is starting to dust And when I mean dust I mean when You wipe your hand on the car it's now on your hand. The motor ran good but then it started idling to high and would blow the motor up if the truck started and then the battery went dead. Looking for this summer to hopefully try and fix it up and have it running. But question is what motor and transmission would fit in the engine bay? Without customizing it? Would I be okay to find myself a 350 motor with trans? Or is there a chevy car/truck that I could swap the motor, trans and all the things for it? Some guidance would really help thanks!

the is a common swap another idea is a 4.3 with a carburator and a turbo 350 trans if your truck is fuel injected you can use the throttle body from a 4.3 for a easier swap the trans with the 2.8 only fits that motor the 350 swap uses special motor mounts and have stearing shaft clearance issues and you have to figure something out for exhust manifolds or headers there is more things than you think if you can find somebody that has done the swap talk to them and see what problems they had

Yeah you'd be better off with a 4.3 from a newer model s series blazer or I know some people that have used 3.4liter (I think?) Camaro engines.

The 5.3liter and 5.7liter motors take some real time, work, and $$$ to do and do right. You need to consider new engine mounts, radiator, electric fans, headers, oil pan if 4x4, wiring, transmission if 2wd, and many other things. Not something to think about casualy.

The easiest V8 swaps I've heard of are the 88-92 camaro/firebird engines. But for simplicity the 4.3 would be the easiest and most cost effective motor swap.
