Default Need 4.3 help

Hi I just acquired 1993 Blazer 2wheel drive with 4.3 cpi. It would hardly run when I got it. Fuel in oil. So I followed advice here and changed spider and nut kit. No leaks and would run better but still was missing bad. So this afternoon put new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Started right up and ran smooth for about 2min this just cut off. Would not start. After sit for while would crank up and run for 45 sec then die. Couldn't get it to start at the last. I will try to check it out more tomorrow. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas? Thanks.

Have you cleaned the EGR valve?

Yes I saw that on here also. Cleaned EGR valve and passage and installed gasket with screen. I did that about week ago when I did the spider and nut kit. It was running today just missing bad before I installed the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. I also went over the upper intake bolts. Dont know if I could have messed anything up there? Thought maybe rotor button but it cranked right up and ran for couple minutes pretty smooth. Then just cut off. I verified wires on correct. Couldn't find vacuum line or anything I might have disconnected. When I got tune up stuff installed I unplugged battery for couple minutes. Thought it might help to reset computer since was running so bad before. It also has brand new battery. Thanks for any advice.

Will it remain running if you spray some starting fluid into the throttle body? Or push on the accelerator pedal to increase RPMs?

Dont think so. I will check it out more today. Would the knock sensor cause anything like this? It seems like it has to be under distributor cap or wire I might have broke by accident. Cranks and started up everytime before I changed this stuff. Maybe I can narrow it down today. Thanks.

Thanks for help Swart. I am sure I will need more soon. Blazer cranked up and run good today. That is first I drove it. Seemed like it was smoking little more then should. Would cat cause this from where cpi was bad and running rich? I put about 50 miles on it today and it did well. Need brake job now I guess. The only thing I could guess that might have caused my problem yesterday was that I sprayed cleaner on rag and cleaned all the goo from under rotor. I also put little dielectric gease there also. Maybe I got something wet or something. Thanks for everything.
