Need some bolt sizes.
If anyone out there with a shop manual can help me out, I would appreciate it. I need to know the sizes of (1) the upper front shock mounting bolt, and (2) the tow hook bolts. Also, if there are any torque specs that would be great too.

My 1991 Blazer Shop manual does not have all the boltsizes and torque values like the shop manuals did priorto the late 1970s.I was looking for the torque value of the oil pan drain bolt for my 1991 Blazer and I could not find it anywhere.
Some torque values are determined by the strength of the threads in the bolt holeand not by the tensile strength of the bolt. Especially those bolts that are used for theirshear strength (Gr. 5), rather than tensile strength (Gr. 8). Included in the bolts needed for shear strength arethose that are used to attachtow hooks to the frame.Another example are theAllen head brake calliper bolts. Those must be torqued at NO MOREthan 37 lb. due to the relatively weak threads in the cast iron steering knuckle caliper bolt hole. Many people over torque (More's Law) the front Allen head brake caliperbolts because of amisconceived safety reason and they willl strip the threads out of thesteering knuckle. That is why you can buy an aftermarket Allen head brake caliper bolt that is self centeringand hasself tapping oversize threads. The oversize threads on the aftermarket brake caliper boltwill give apersonone more chance at torquing thebrake caliperbolts correctly berfore they mustpurchase a $400 steering knuckle.
