hello, i have a 1990 s10 blazer. the fan motor stop working after a few minute when using a/c. the compressor kicks on and he fan will work on all speeds for a few minutes then stops. i still hear the compressor but no fan. is there a relay or something that controls the fan speeds? any help would be appreciated. i need a/c for summer. thanks

 

Yes there's a relay but check the purple wire going to your fan when it stops. No volts, fan bad. Pull it out and see if you have something making it stick. If not replace it.

 

I second the purple wire. I had this same problem and checked that wire. It was receiving power. Turns out that its connection to the fan motor was slightly tweaked, causing it to work intermittently. I reshaped the connector on the purple wire and reconnected it. It's been going strong for 15 months. Best of all, it was a FREE fix!!

I disagree with the "No volts, fan bad" comment. If no volts, then you have a short somewhere BEFORE the fan connection. If you have power on the purple wire, then it could be the connection (easy to test if you run a wire directly from the battery to the fan, though the sparks and jump of the fan may scare the crap out of you!!), or the fan is bad.

Let's hope for the free fix!

 

Don't know what I was thinking. No volts, time to check for bad relay or broken wire or bad switch. Thanks for keeping me straight Azaviator. I'm usually better than that.

What's the problem? No air? Not enough air? Too much air? Smelly air? Not enough info to go on.
