Default ODB1 port on 1st generation S10 blazer

I have an 88' Chevy S10 Blazer and while driving it's check engine light will come on for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and then turn off again. This usually happens after I've been driving for an hour or so and then stop and turn my vehicle off. After my
Blazer has sat for any length of time and I start it up and drive away, the check engine light comes on for a few moments. I have tried to use my OBD2 adapter with an OBD1 To OBD2 adapter that is supposed to plug into the 16 pin system and convert it to OBD2 compatible.
MY issue is that I'm getting zero power from the OBD plug and cannot seem to be able to figure out why??????? Why would I not be getting any power to the OBD port????? Also my temperature gadge just quit for no reason. I love my S10 Blazer .. I love that power my 4.3L Chevy engine always provides..
if anyone has an idea how I would solve my OBD lack of power/signal ??

First thing to check would be the fuse for the cigarette lighter. It also powers the OBD port.

MY cigarette lighter works but the OBD port shows no power. Strange

Could also be how the 16 pin plug is pinned and the adapter works. OBD I was not standardized and it will be vehicle dependent where the power is pinned to. So the adapter needs to be correct for the vehicle. It may be necessary to use a multi meter and check where you have power, then check the wiring of the adapter.

I'm not sure if an OBD I can be red with an OBDII scanner. Looking forward seeing what data you will get from that combo.

So I know that the 1st generation Blazer is a 16 pin set up, so I bought an adapter that plugs into the 16 pin and then is the right plug in for both OBD 2 readers I have. Elm 327 that link to my phone via WiFi or Bluetooth. I have a multimeter and I'm gonna check it out again when I get home later..
