Default Oil Pressure Drop

I know I said in another post that my oil pressure goes down somtimes but I just check the dip stick and if there is oil in there I don't worry about it. But now i'm getting worried. When I start it, when the engine is cold, its running about 50-60, then when it warms up and i'm driving normal its running about 30, but when I give on er it goes back to 40. But when i'm at a complete stop when warm, its running about 15. I really don't like the looks of that. Just thought i'de ask. Thanks.

Default RE: Oil Pressure Drop

oil pressure fluctuation is common.
when the oil is cold it doesnt flow as easily, thats why the pressure is so high when the engine is cold.
when the engine is at idle the oil pump is not spinning as fast, thats why the pressure can seem low.

i'd say 30 to 40 under normal driving is perfectly normal oil pressure.

Yeah, if it drops below 8psi at idle, then I'd worry about it. Typically, if you can't hear your rocker arms tapping, then your bottom end is still getting good oil. Chances are your main & rod bearings are getting worn down and the additional clearance is bleeding off oil pressure.
