Default Radio Antenna Replacement '84 S-10 Blazer

Teenage daughter damaged antenna while parking under tree branch. Doesn't look too easy to replace. Haynes manual is no help at all. Interior mechanicals that fasten to body seem totally inaccessible. How is the area accessed ? From underneath the dash ? Anyone ever replace the antenna on a '84 S-10 ? Could use some pointers....Thanks

IF just the mast was damaged, it can be unscrewed from the base, and easily replaced. IF the base is damaged as well, the slotted nut unscrews, and the base falls into the fender.... you may, or may not, be able to access it with the passenger door open, but, my guess is, you would have to pull the fender......

Having studied my own antenna replacement issue on my '88 over the past weekend (forWAY too long), if the base is loose or damaged, the only access I can see is to pull the fender. I'm not that desperate yet.

I'll be watching this thread closely, just in case someone comes up with an easier solution that I haven't found...
