Default Removing a heater fan

Hi,

I have a 1991 Chevy S10 Blazer and the heater fan does not always run. If I open the hood and tap on it, then it will run. Or it used to run. Now it will only run for a few minutes. I am assuming that this means I need a new heater fan. The fan used to run on low and high, not medium. That does not bother me. I just need the fan to run so I can keep warm when traveling.

Can anyone here tell me how to remove the heater fan and change it? Or if you have pictures to show me would even be better. From what I can tell, I remove the little screws holding it in, but what is the short hose for that is on top? It goes from the top part of the heater vent cover, that does not come off, to the heater fan what would come off once I remove the screws. Does this hose pull out? Is it a vacuum hose or what> And yes, there is a ground wire that would come off as well.

I really want to try doing this myself. I cannot afford to have a mechanic do it for me, if at all possible.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

yeah pretty much. i think that bottom bolt can be kinda tricky to get at. you can try running a direct 12v power source to the motor to see if it will run. if it doest run, motor is bad, if it does run you got other issues.

Thank you, abig84 and duxtoyz for your help. I didn't notice the power supply plug. Where is that located? And that small hose just pulls out? I'm assuming it the section that goes into the heater fan itself and not the top part.

Sorry to ask such silly questions. My dad always took care of this for me, but he passed away several years ago. I am a single mother, and would like to do a few repairs if possible.
