Short nose waterpump
Do they make a shorter nose water pump for the 2.8L 1985 model? I need one that doesn't stick out that far for my applacation.
Thanks, Kirk

They make an electric waterpump that doesnt stick out that far... My V8 S10 has electric fans and waterpump cause I dont think the motor would have fit with mechanical ones. The fans are on the front of the radiator and the waterpump is as short as a stock one without the pulley on it. I have them both on a temperature switch on the thermostat housing, so when I park and shut it off the fans and pump still run for a couple minutes to cool it all off, its pretty neat and sounds cool and makes poeple look at the truck. I have 2 different types of fans and together they sound like a jet engine with the 2 different pitches to them, its badass. Oh and it has dual batteries in the truck box too cause it was getting hard to restart in the summertime when the fans run for 5-7 minutes when its turned off.

For a 85 model, no. With the vee belts there is no shorter pump.
If you had a serpt belt setup there is one.

Is the one with the vee belt a shorter nose then the one with the serpenteen belt?

It gets confusing if you don't know 60 degree v6s.
The s-series both vee belt and serpt belt are about the same since they used a engine driven fan. The water pump was used to keep the fan at the right distance from the radiator for proper cooling.
With a serpt belt setup there is an option to use the 93-95 f-body water pump. Since the f-bodies had electric fans from the factory the nose is shorter by a bit. If the f-body pump is used the f-body pulley must also be used and in a s-series and an electric fan also.
This is a picture of the pulleys side by side to give you an idea, its not some drastic difference. SOmething like 1/2 inch I think.
I was already running an electric fan so when I done my 3.4 swap I chose to use the shorter nosed pump but then again I have the serpt belt setup.
