Default Waterpump Pulley Squeek

My waterpump pulley squeeks all the time when the motor is cold, what do i do to fix this? i sprayed the pulley with WD40 and it helped but then the next time it still squeeked, only does it when i first start it up and drive about 5 miles then it stops, and then tonight i sprayed belt dressing (suposed to stop squeeks) and that didnt help one bit. what should i do? or is there a bigger problem?

Is your belt on correctly? Also, if you look at the pulley, it should be dark colored. Do you see any silver on either side of the belt? If the belt is mispositioned, you might have a tensioner issue...or another pulley thats off/failing/weird

Belt is on correctly, and its a brand new belt after the rebuild less than 4k miles ago, i was thinking the tensioner, but how big of a deal is that? also i was told it could be the bearing.

I suppose it could....that would actually make sense if belt dressing or lube didnt fix it at least temporarily..

But when I switched out my belts, I actually took off the tensioner and put it back on incorrectly (rookie mistake)...and I had the same symptom...squeak at start up, but after a few minutes it went away. After I repositioned the tensioner and got it set up properly, no squeak!

Alright thanks Wolfpack, how hard is it to change the tensioner?

Pretty much just the one bolt. It can be tricky getting the bolt back in though...it has to fit through a couple little holders/brackets it feels like like. Also when taking it off, the spring tension will all the sudden let go...it made me jump the first time.

Just make sure the metal peg is above the block....I put the little peg in the hole it looks like it might fit in...but...doesnt go there

I'd get a better belt. Lower quality belts will always squeal and it will only get worse.
