Default Side Terminal Battery Cable

I went and got an accessory stud for putting through my battery cable but I can't get the bolt out that is in the cable now. Is there anything special to getting this out?

I am not 100% sure but I be leave that you just have to cut the out side of the terminal with an box cutter and it just will come apart but you have probably already figured that out.

Are you talking about the rubber around the loop on the cable?
