smog pump

Default smog pump

ok im new here i have an 88 blazer with a 2.8 in it and the emissions pump on the passenger side of the moter is missing something on the bottom and it blows exhaust out of the bottom.my question is will this make the truck run aweful and what exactly is this called?it actually attached to the back of the smog pump.thanks in advance

True that, unless you have emission testing in your state, i would not worry about it

Just depends if they do a visual inspection and then only if you have it hacked up or they know one supposed to be there. The A.I.R. pump only really works until the o2 heats up and takes over. From my understanding when you test you are supposted to have the engine heated up (sorry we dont test here and been a long time since we even had yearly inspections). Then again on a 83 that should be exempt by now depending on where its at.

ok now my problem is it wants to load up on fuel and i thought maybe that could be part of the problem.runs really rough and smokes like crazy i have been tinkering with it for awhile but now i gotta get busy and get it done cause my daily driver needs some work and i am gonna drive it

when you first start it the ses light is off after about 20 seconds of running the light come on then it starts loading up and smoking

So what code is it throwing? On obd1 you can pull the code with a paperclip.
pulling your own codes.

On electronic trucks you can throw $1000s at them just guessing and not get it right.
