Default Speedo-Cruise not working

1990 Auto. 4.3-- I have a flat four prong trailer light connector and was trying to figure out the wires on some magnetic tow lights. I had the key on and brake lights on and was checking different wires when the brake lights went out. So I checked the fuse and it was blown. No big deal, I thought, so I changed the fuse and all the lights work now.The next day I take off and notice I have no speedo, no cruise control. The engine light came on and it is a code 24. I replaced the speed sensor (VSS) on the tranny and still nothing. Any ideas. Thanks

Did you check the rest of your fuses? I bet you blew your gauge fuse also. But I would check 'em all. I cannot believe that you took out your VSS just by testing the trailer circuits. Korey.

No relay for the speedo though, and if the speedo does not work neither will the cruise on these trucks. Korey

I have checked all the fuses visually and with a meter. Am wondering if the cruise control cut off switch on the brake pedal may have taken a hit since the brake pedal was engaged at the time?
