Default Cruise Control not working...

I've got a 96 4 door 4X4 Blazer and my cruise Control doesn't work. The fuses are all ok. I know it works in conjunction with the brake switch.
My question is: Would the high mount brake(3rd brake) light cause it to not work if it is out?
Thanks, Bob

Nope, the third brake light has no effect on the cruise control. If none of your brake lights are working, then the switch is your culprit.

Okay, thanks. That's what I thought.Lights work except the 3rd.When it warms up, I'll dig a little deeper into it.

My '96 had a cracked hose at the vacuum reservoir (the spherical ball about 4" in diameter located on the driver's side near the firewall). Easy fix and the cruise works well now.
That entire vacuum hose system is suspect to cause the cruise to fail, trace the hose looking for cracks. A bad leak also will cause the ventilation air to come out the wrong vents under hard acceleration in a high gear.
Of course, the switch on the brake pedal can also kill the cruise if it's misadjusted or kaput.
Good luck.

I agree with Mammy. I used to have a Chevy Corsica a while back and the cruise control went out on it twice. Both times it was a leak in a vacumn hose.
