starting issue....????
I have a 94 S10 Blazer 4.3L Vortec (W VIN), 2dr, 4x4. Everytime I start it I let the fuel pump run until it stops. Sometimes it fires right up....but most of the time, I have to crank and occasionally hit the gas once before it fires. When it does fire, I get the smell of fuel. It runs great and has no problems while driving down the road. I look in past threads but just wanted to explain exactly what mine is doing. Can someone please help?
Thanks guys...!

Hitting the gas doesnt do anything but open the throttle plates on a fuel injected vehicle.
I think you need to check the level and smell of your motor oil (smell gas?), and test the fuel pressure and leakdown rates.
90% chance you are going to need a spider/FPR... Its VERY common problem for that engine.

Yeah, I figured it was the injector....there is a little smell of fuel in the oil but it isn't really raising the oil level (yet). I know it is one of those two, or maybe just the lines going to, how can I tell which one it is?
When you pop off the manifold, Look for really clean spots. the manifolds suppose to be all black/dirty etc from carbon. If you see any clean silver shiny spots, its leaking around there. If i were you,id replace the lines, regulator etc and be done with the whole thing.
Good diagnostics saves money. If you know what to replace you don't have to wildcat everything and replace perfectly good parts until you find the problem. I highly suggest getting a fuel pressure gauge. Mine has been invaluable since I got it. It has saved me far more than what I spent on it.
If you have a fuel pressure gauge, put it on the Schrader valve on the fuel line going into the back of the manifold. Check the fuel pressure on start-up. It should go up to near 60psi and hold there. The pressure should maintain for at least five minutes after you shut off the key. If the pressure doesn't stay then you've definitely got a leak in the manifold.
Take the top of the plenum off and disconnect the wire from the coil to the distributor to prevent accidental ignition. Turn on the key and watch to see if there are any leaks in the system. If the leak is from the hoses going to the injectors (the "nut kit") then you know it needs to be replaced. If there are no leaks from the nut kit then it's fine and either the fuel pressure regulator or the injector nozzles are leaking and the whole spider injector needs to be replaced.
