So,Since it ran out of gas,im playing with my gallons to see how it reads on the gauge.
I put in 2 gallons when it ran out. It put it up 3 bars above the "red" I put in 7 more yesterday which is roughly 2 gallons,or a tad more. It put it up to the line above half tank. Then today i put in 10 bucks more, which is about 3 gallons. now its 2 marks above half.
This thing is funky.

As my father constantly says… "gas gauges aren't gauges, they're indicators".
My truck used to run down to no bars… I never ran in out, so I don't know just how long it would have gone on no bars, but it never shut off on me.
Last year I changed the fuel tank. I'm driving one day and it get down to one bar, and when I would stop, the engine would stumble a bit. Some times it shut off. If I got on the gas hard it would stumble. I was thinking "what the hell is wrong with it now!!??" Then the little voice said "Hey stupid… you're running out of gas."
But… but… I still have bars!
Took some getting used to, and sometimes I still forget. I'll be driving, knowing I need gas but not thinking there's a REAL rush… until I remember the "new rules".
For years we had a full sized pickup where the only fuel indicator was a 5 gallon gas can in the bed. When it shut off, you put the can in and went to the gas station. We used that sucker that way for many many years. lol

haha! Well, this gauge is soooo bad. Half tank or more you are ok. Anything less if you turn it hard,or floor it at a turn she stumbles, and sometimes dies. Previous owner said he replaced the pump etc with an ac delco. Liar...i took a look at the stuff with my flashlight the other day. That stuff hasnt been touched in who knows. everything has that"ive been here untouched forever" look. I guess il fork out the 100 bucks for a pump/unit. Or,if i feel ignorant enough il wait till labor day weekend when the parts yard is 1/2 off and get a whole tank setup for like,25 bucks. Knowing my luck il get some crappy cheap pump.
