Default tranny/transfer case compatibility

Hi everyone I'm new to the forum. I have a 93 Blazer 4 door. I also have aquired a 1987 Jimmy 2 door, that use to be my step father-in-laws. Hecan no longer drive because of health issues. The question is will the tranny and transfer case work in my Blazer if I need them?

Thanks, Mark.

Default RE: tranny/transfer case compatibility

Short answer, no. The transmission is different as 93 was the first year for the 4L60E which is the electronic version of the 700R4/4L60. For the transfer case, if both are manual controls, then maybe, but I would suspect that the 93 would have the push button controlled NV233 transfer case while the 87 probably has the manual control NV231 transfer case. You could likely use the NV231 in place of your NV233, but you would likely have to do some cutting/grinding and maybe a little fab work to get the shifter into your truck.

The 1993 Blazer has the floor shifter for the 4X4 so thats the manual shift, right? I was wondering if you could tell me how I could confirm that the tranny was a 4L60E.

Thanks swartllk
