Default tranny/transfer case compatibility?

OK, so my first tech Q about the BomBlazer... (long story on the name) We towed it home, because it has a 2wd transmission in it from a Camaro. First thing that happened in our driveway was the rear U-joint broke cuz the driveshaft was custom made and was a POS. I was going to just pop the transfer case that came with it onto the tranny it has, but the transfer case only has 27 splines and the tranny has 30. SO, I'm going to just buy a whole new tranny/transfer case set up from a newer blazer to get the 30spline 700r4 since it's stronger, but how long ldid they use the np208 transfer case? And will any other transfer case fit in without trouble?

My records show that the NP208 was used behind the 700R4 from 82-88 and behind the TH350 from 81-85. The NP208 has a 27 spline input shaft when used behind either of these transmissions.

oh, didn't know that... I forgot, the output shaft is different between the 2wd and 4wd transmissions. That's perfect, then i"ll just get the transmission and clean out the transfer case I have and save some cash, that jsut means I can get it done that much sooner. Thanks!
