Very loud brake noise

Default Very loud brake noise

Today i had my fiance film me climbing a foot and a half high brick wall that goes in a little hill and my brakes was making a **** load of noise what can i do to stop the noise

Video was just uploaded and may take 20 minutes or so to process it.

Any thoughts on how to eliminate the brake sound? And here is a brighter video for ya

I think that might be just the friction of the pad rubbing against your rotor as your braking. Mine does it if I'm stopped at a light and I dont hold the brake hard enough it slowly wants to move forward and the brakes groan, until I apply more pressure on the pedal.

I think its the shoe brakes that are groaning. On the back. They are servo-acting brakes, and are deigned to work best going forward. Mine does it too, plus I get a little clunk cause the wheel cylinders are kind of loose in the holes for them in the backing plates. You can have a look at the backing plates for grooves made by the shoes. I have grooves and need to get new backing plates now so my shoes wear evenly.

I used to have semi-metallic pads and it used to do that. Now that I use ceramic pads no more noise. Its just pads touching the rotors making the noise.

Yeah i kinda figured that was it but was not sure if i could fix it from making so much noise

Were the brakes ever oil soaked? Sounds like the remnants of brake shoes that were cleaned instead of replaced..... You can never really get all the oil out of a soaked shoe or pad

nope it was all cleared of oil
