Question What size is my fuel tank?

Before I start using my 85 S10 2.8 4x4 as a daily driver I got to get the fuel gauge working. I was looking up the fuel sender on some sites & there are 3 available.

13gal tank
25gal tank
31/40gal tank

So how can I figure this out without crawling under the truck & eyeballing it.
I live 20miles from a gas station & want to know when my FD pager goes off I am going to get there. So I want to get this replaced ASAP! How would you feel if you called 911 & know one showed up because they ran out of gas?

This happened to me. Only way i could figure it out was drive it until it runs out of gas,and then pour 5 gallons of gas from a gas can then go to the nearest gas station and fill it up,then whalla it'll narrow it down. I know its bad for the pump. but it cooled my gut feeling about running out of gas.

I had just decided to do the same. Going to pick up a can of gas in the morning & drop the tank next Saturday.

I believe the 2.8L came with a 20 gallon tank in your model year.

I would say it's probably 20 gallon. There were only 2. 13 gal and 20. There sure isn't a 40 gal for an S10. My 84 S15 Jimmy and 94 S10 Blazer both have the 20 gallon.

my 91 4x4 s10 blazer has a 13 gallon. I hate it. i want the 20. I wonder if the 20 would fit without major mods

It pobably would. I can't see them making a bunch of changes just for a fuel tank. LMC Truck has a pretty good view of the different tanks with the part numbers that would be different.
