2000 Chevy Blazer gauges and odometer issues
Hey guys, need some help here.
I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer... I ran outa gas one day ( i know im an idoit), and ever since then my gauges havent worked properly. Right now when i turn the ignition and the engine is turning over my odometer works. Once the engine turns over and is idleing the odometer goes out. Heres the kicker my gas and temp gauges wont work. Interesting thing is there the top left and top right gauges. NOW, if i pull the Gauges Fuse, naturally all the gauges fall dead, HOWEVER the odometer comes on and stays on while the gauges fuse is pulled. Aswell, if i pull the radio/batt fuse. the Temp and gas gauges start to work. but the radio and the other gauges die. I dont know any codes, as i havent taken the truck in yet cause its past its MVI and i cant just drive it around town all ***** nilly.. Can anyone help me out with some ideas here?? Anyone have this happen to them?
Thanks guys

Im having similar issues with my 98 blazer. I just bought it and it needed a new battery so I thought that the cluster panel issues would be fixed after the new battery installation. Well... it still does not work when turning the car on (only works when you turn the ignition). a mechanic said its most likely the speed sensor, so im getting that fixed. It could also be a faulty ignition switch. So, you might want to look into the speed sensor and ignition switch.

I am having the *exact* same problem you are describing after replacing a bad cluster... did replacing the ignition switch fix your problem? Thanks!

I have the exact same issue as well, has anyone come across the problem? no fuel gauge, no temp gauge and the odometer only works when the key is on but the car is not running. Thanks

My problem turned out to be a short in the steering column. Fixed that and all my gauges came back.

Great, thanks. I'll look into it. Any advice on how to track it down? Thanks again

ODO - blackout and more..
Hi,
I just had bought a Chevy 99 Blazer, Had the described problem. Periodical Blackout from the display.
I found, bad soldering in the top section of the center print circuit board, just clean the area (Painted with silicone) re solder the pins, and fixed the "blackout" problem.
