Default Digital Odometer Issues

My family has had my 89 S10, 4.3 since it was brand new. I would guess since about 92ish the odometer has had problems. It is the digital dash, and the odometer flicks on and off, and at times just shows error. I know while it was under warranty something was replaced and it worked for a while, but soon went back to the same errors. As of now, I haven't see the correct mileage for quite a few months and would like to know what my MPG is. On certain days when the odometer does work, the mileage is accurately displayed, so it is stored somewhere correctly.

Does anyone have any tips for getting this fixed, is there any add on odometer that I could plug in to take readings?

I suppose there isn't any way to get the current mileage reading off of the cluster though?

You can buy a new cluster for 200 bucks from digitaldashsolutions.com

I have one and it works perfectly. You have to send the old core back though.

Bad solder joints, take the cluster out, find out which solder joints are for the odometer, and re-solder them, should fix the problem. Especially since everything else is working.
