Default burnt out steering wheel controls

well tonight when i went out to my blazer, the headlights were on and I noticed that some of the lights on my steering wheel mounted controls for the radio were burnt out. The only one that works is the seek button and I was wondering how involved it would be to get these fixed. I would like to replace them myself if possible but going to the dealership wouldn't be out of the question.
Thanks guys

Your only option is to disassemble them and see what's in there for illumination. I'm betting on soldered in LEDs on the steering wheel controls. Everything I have for references only lists this as a non-servicable switch.

Oh and Gimp, it would help if you'd give us some information on your truck... Just a blind request for help will get you nothing.

I have the same light out. 2000 LT 4x4. Havnt looked it up yet, but seems I might be wasting my time. If i can get in there, i work with some good electronic's tech's. So I'll see if I can have them recomend somthing. If it is just an LED thats an easy fix.

Yeah I would think that it is a surface mounted incadescent bulb since that is what is in the defrost button (just found out last night about that) So if you can find a small incandescent bulb or some type of LED I would just have your friends/coworkers solder it. But I would dismount the buttons from the steering wheel and then try to take them apart and see what u got in there.

Thats my game plan. Just need to carve out some time to get to it!(glad when we slow down a little at work) And if it dose work, I wanna replace them with red LED's (we have a stock room FULL of them!! LOL) just need to fined out the spec on the bulb's or what ever is in there. And I'll have you know I am a damn good solderer (just cant spell it!! LOL), just cause I'm a motor tech, and I don't knowthe resister collor code!! (sorry inside jokeLOL)

Yeah I know the resistor color code.

As for the bulb specs I know that they use a 12 volt source and I found that these work awesome and are already prewired with the correct resistor. I used them in changing out all my dash bulbs with blue ones. Yeah i can never remember how to spell solder, but I am pretty decent at it, just need better equipment.
