Fuel Tank Ground Strap HELP!!

Default Fuel Tank Ground Strap HELP!!

So i have a 1998 4x4 4door Blazer and i was under it the other day replacing the top half of the fuel filler neck and a braided wire fell off the frame and my friend told me it was a grounding wire for the fuel tank, DO I NEED THIS!?!?! WHAT HAPPENS IF I DONT REPLACE IT??!?!?! HELP!?!?

It is not a ground for the fuel tank. It is for grounding static discharge to the frame when you refuel. For safety reasons, it needs to be there.

I have been looking everywhere and i cant find a place that sells them, do you have any suggestions?

You should be able to go into most auto parts stores and get a ground strap the appropriate length. Worst case, a couple ring terminals and a piece of wire would suffice.

Thanks, And do you know where im supposed to put it? cause it just fell off and i have no idea where it goes.

Anywhere you can screw it to the frame, just sand the frame down dirst for a good connection

It bolts to the top of the crossmember (the crossmember behind your bumper) on the driver side of the vehicle. Takes a 18mm wrench to get off.

I had to replace my fuel pump and with a half tank of gas it fell down and snap the wire off. I just used a new electrical terminal and bolted back on. Fixed my issue though.

maybe 8 mm 18 is pretty big
