Default Removing Front Rotors

I've tried to remove my front brake rotors today with no luck.I went by the GM service manual and had the calipers and caliper mounting brackets off.No wheel bearings to remove(jc1) and the rotors wont budge.Am I missing something or are they rusted on?(98 Blazer 2 wheel drive)

they are probably rusted on. few smacks with a wood mallet or hammer and a 2x4 should do the trick. or soak the back of them with PB Blaster.

Hill Billy,

Since this is a 2wd not a 4wd the front hubs are not the same. I noticed when I looked at the GM Service DVD (not working now) that the 2wd bearings were replaceable as seperate parts and the hub/rotor might be one piece like the older 2wd's or maybe they got some screws holding them on? They might not be the floating rotors like the 4wd's..

I'm thinking they are rusted on too.I looked at the back of the rotors for any bolts that would hold them on,nothing. Thanks

I concur with the rusted theory. The rear rotors were the first thing I replaced when I first bought my truck, first owner warped them so bad it shook interior panels loose when you braked. Took a good 20 mins. to half an hour to get each side off because they were rusted so bad. Stick with it and keep whacking away-if that doesn't work, get the BFH!

Yeah, that is a common problem on a lot of vehicles. I had to use my 10lb sledge on the rotors on my sister's Grand Am and ended up breaking them in the process.

Soak the hub with some penetrating oil and just work at it.
