Hi everyone....

I live in Australia and have a 2001 Chev Blazer, imported from Japan, therefore Right hand drive.

The plastic part of the radiator has cracked, and I have had someone repair it. It is probably okay for a short period of time (no need for anti-freeze here, just coolant) but I need to source a new radiator.

I have been told that USA LHD radiators are not suitable, as everything is reversed ?????

Where can I get one for a RHD Blazer, preferably from Australia or even US if shipping is not too expensive?

Is there any other car manufactured in Australia or more easily sourced, that might have a suitable radiator???

Interesting subject- I would start with ebay but would be wary of the quality. Are those radiators really reversed? That doesn't make much sense to me as those units are produced here for export and GM did not spend a dime on enginering these.I would look at various Holden plastic radiators to see if they have the fill neck on the right and the upper hose on the left,if that actually happened!Can you provide photos? That will answer many inquiries! Thank you!

But sure enough... just looked on Rockauto and the Ac Delco offering says 'w/o RH Drive'

China is the source you want to look at. In the States new they run from $100-$150 depending to the source selling the China radiator.

As already noted the radiators should be the same where you drive on the right or wrong side of the road.

Anything over 10 year or 100,000 should be replaced if they are pulled for other reasons. They are designed to last the life of the vehicle.

Do you just run plain water or do you add some type of additive for lube/rust control?

 

I was wondering if you have intake manifold gasket failures too or did it come with antifreeze which was used for a long time.

Facing the engine (from the front of the truck), the filler cap is on the right, the inlet hose for the engine is on the left.

I have looked on Ebay, but they seem to be reversed from what I have described above, ie for the US market.

I will follow the bunce.co.nz link, but if NZ is anything like Australia, they want a huge amount of money for a radiator (about $400.00 Aust) and our $ is stronger at the moment than the Greenback.

Guess it is all about supply and demand.

Have looked at Chinese radiators, but they seem to also follow US specifications, and really look cheaply made.

I think the manifold is okay, but when the car was imported from Japan, the Australian importers really didn't pay much attention to the radiator and the sludge that came out of it was horrible

Will email bunce in NZ and see what they can offer.

Hi I have a UK RHD Blazer, and to confirm a lot of the cooling and heating system is reversed, so far I know the heater matrix and complete HVAC unit is, the pipes from the engine to the heater are different. I was surprised how much of the engine compartment is different to the LHD models.
Can you find a radiator specialist who could rebuild your unit? We have them over here as they rebuild radiators for vintage cars.
I get my parts from here www.usautomotive.co.uk in the UK, might be pricy for the shipping though. Good luck.

I have the same problem!

I also have a 2001 Blazer imported from Japan and the black plastic radiator tank developed a leak a few months ago so I went to the US website where I allays get my parts from and ordered a replacement radiator.
When I got it in Australia (and after paying almost $200 for shipment) I found that it was completely different. The hoses and lines don't fit at all and the cap is on the opposite side.
The Blazer has been at the mechanic for several weeks waiting for me to get the radiator. We have tried local options (Holden Commodore) with no success and a custom made one is simply too expensive.

Lady P, did you find a replacement?

I'm going to check the two websites that have been suggested in NZ and UK but If anyone has the solution for this problem please let me know!!!

Check out this link - this IS the radiator you need for the right hand drive models (the postal carrier models were also right hand drive). You want the second one from the bottom - part number 432611.

I have used these guys on more than one occasion for parts for my RHD model & they have no problem shipping to me here in the UK so anywhere else in the world should not be a problem. There is a guy called Brian there who is most helpful whenever I have had to deal with them.

Hope this helps. If there's anything else you need to know please just ask as I have had a lot of experience of the RHD models, also have a factory manual on CD-ROM that has all the relevant RHD information I need, except for information on the security system which is different on the european models.

I have bought parts from both a dealer in Queenland and from one in NZ.
It was cheaper to buy from Bunce Motors in NZ....including better service and the postage was not that much.
If you Google them, I'm sure you will find them, and once I got the part I got a local radiator place to fit it.
Worked out well, so good luck!
