Default "Ticking" when I accelerate

I drive a 2001 Blazer 2-door 2-wheel drive LS...I've noticed a slight "ticking" sound coming from what seems to be the engine when I accelerate. It doesn't make the noise when I'm idling and it seems to get worse when it's cold outside. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Probably a sticking lifter. Try changing your oil and adding some CD2 valve quitener or add some seafoam to your oil now and take your vehicle out for a short ride just long enough to get the engine thoroughly warmed up to operating temp and then change your oil. That should free up your sticky lifter situation.

What Sock Jock said but put about 50 miles on the engine with the Seafoam, gets things really really clean, then change the oil. Make sure you get all the old oil out of the oil cooler lines if you have them, also change the filter and you will be a happy man.

I have this problem, its not too bad though... so adding that seafoam additive can't hurt the engine right?
