'00 Blazer LT tries to start, but dies...
Hello All. I am a new member.
Occasionally, when warm, if I attempt to start the truck, it looks like it is starting but as soon as I release the key it dies. I have replaced the fuel filter. Battery is holding up fine. Alternator voltage is 14.0V. If I wait until cooler, I try again and it works fine. I did some troubleshooting, byt disconnecting battery after it is running, and it continues to run good. I accelerate and voltage remains steady. In this mode, if I quickly release gas pedal, tach drops to 600, and light dim. Continuing to run without battery, and I hold accelerator down a bit, revving it to 2k, lights in car flicker.
A mechanic stated that in this vehicle, if a bad or 'going bad' alternator's voltage is low at startup, the vehicle will not start. I am considering replacing the alternator, but will have it checked on a alternator bench before replacing.
Any Helpful suggestions?
Thanks to all.

RE: '00 Blazer LT tries to start, but dies...
Yes if the system voltage drops below 9 volts..it won't start......but it sounds like your alt is ok.....14V.........a hot soak starting problem is what you are describing and it isUSUALLY caused by a bad fuel pressure regulator...or other fuel injection problem...injector sticking open etc... In the future it would be helpfull to have vehicle info.....year,make,model,chassis,engine,trans....e tc.
By the way..welcome to the forum...and this should be posted in the general tech help section too.

Thanks for the information. I will be more specific: 200 Blazer LT, 4.3 liter, 4x4, S-10.
Are their any troubleshooting tips I can implement to help isolate where?
Thanks
