Question Tries to crank only once - then gives up?!

Thanks for looking in - 95 Blazer 4.3L - the ultimate work vehicle, not road worthy anymore but still working hard until recently. It began sometimes to take several tries to crank but would run fine - Then it began to crank just once and when turned off will not crank back up. Now it will (cough) at first try to crank but then following tries - no cumbustion at all. I'm thinking fuel filter, fuel pump .... any ideas to try is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Sounds like the ignition control module.

thanks -- where is the module located and is there a way to test it? Any other possibilities?

Find the ignition coil (only plug wire from the distributor that doesn't run to a spark plug) and it should be attached to the same bracket as the coil. It should have a heat sink on it.
