01 Blazer
It had an anti-theft device ( model unknown) that had acted up. It was removed and may have had some mechanism that would cause it to do something to the ignition system. Any ideas as to what I should look for to rectify this?
Man that is such a tough thing to answer without knowing what was in there. What is your truck doing now? Or is that just it, it isn't doing anything?... Can you tell us what wires were modified and where?
Sorry, here is the full skinny. It is a 2001 Blazer. The voltmeter shows it to have approximately 10 volts. All the dash lights come on and the radio comes on when the key is on. When I turn it to start, it does nothing. Most of the dash lights goes off and the radio does too. There are no clicks or attempts to turn it over. The antitheft key pad had been acting up and was removed. Still no response.
It was over a pink and red wire that basically was just snapped over them. When I bought the truck, it was already installed and I opted to keep it, I should have allowed them to remove it as they were the ones that installed it.
So the problem was present with the aftermarket alarm system and is still there with it removed? Were there any wires cut in the installation of the alarm?
Also, I guess this relates to your previous post... 2001 Chev. Blazer Won't Start We generally try to keep posts on the same problem together to avoid confusion... All of this information should have been in the previous post.
And as I said in the other post, 10 volts with no or next to no load on the battery means there is a problem. It is quite possible that the battery has a dead cell and will provide power to the accessories, but will not provide enough juice when the starter is engaged.

Jesse, I see that this is the same problem youasked about earlier today in another post. Did you have the battery checked yet like Kyle suggested in that thread? It does sound like a dead cell to me. BTW, we only use one thread per problem - no double posting per forum rules.
Oops, Kyle beat me to it.

When I had the battery go bad in my Bravada, everything would work perfectly fine. Headlights, tail lights, radio, windows, etc all worked great. Turn the key to the start position and nothing. Everything would quite. Back to run and all was fine. Turned out the positive terminal in the battery (original AC Delco 6 years old) had corroded internal to the battery. When I attempted to remove the battery cables to get a new battery, the positive terminal came completely out of the battery case! Battery showed 12.3V with no load, but when put on my load tester, it would drop to 2V!
Anything below 11.5V is bad.

ok, here is some interesting info for this issue...
[ol][*]Sorry for the extra post. I did not find my original and since I am new here and this problem had the potential to cost me money not only in repair but lost wages as well, I panicked and reposted. No excuse, just the explanation.[*]I let it sit a while and came in and played cards with my wife while we discussed how to handle it and out of frustration, I went back out and the dang thang started without a hitch as if there were never a problem whatsoever. Took it to the Walmart and the battery tested out. All else tested out too. No known reason or explanation. I am stumped yet grateful. Thanks for your help and patience in my dual posting. I will peruse this site and help out others if I can.
