Default 01 Blazer engine light problem asap

Hi went out today and realised that the engine light is on. I pulled over and checked d oil, still in full reading. So I checked the break fluid, fuel cap and found the power steering needed to be top up. I did that, still engine light on. Any idea what's wrong? is it safe to drive with the light on??

Should be. You'll need to get codes read to check what's wrong. Do it ASAP!

There are garages out there (yea, even in Aussie!) that can do it. Try a Holden dealer or if not I've found there are others who have the reader like an auto trans shop.

Any idea what pre empted it ?

An example, when I had my light come on it was as a result of a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear. In my case it threw out a P1870 code which was related to a transmission fault, but there could be other issues such as an O2 sensor (on the exhaust) etc. Not all errorsill be as a result of something noticible happening - I don't think.
