01 Bravada Transfer Case Swap
#1
So hope I don't get flamed too much for this one but...
I want to introduce a more dependable aspect to the all wheel drive on my Bravada. I have fought with it for years, replaced the encoder motor twice, and have the fluid changed yearly with the correct GM fluid. Yet I have little confidence in it due to the mileage of my truck (296K). Today the ABS light started going on and off randomly (most likely wheel bearing which I will check out and fix) but it just reminded me that there are so many factors that control the AWD in the Bravada. I want to remove that and go to a manual set up like a hand shifter on a blazer transfer case, or go with the full time transfer case (BW 4472) from an older Bravada. Since I am certain that my current transfer case's clutches are probably worn due to age, now is the time to do something before winter hits hard.
My question is this - can a Blazer transfer case be installed in the Bravada? I understand a manual shifter set up requires cutting the floor and am willing to do that. In fact, I saw someone that did that once on here if I am not mistaken. If not that, the easier solution is if the older Bravada full time transfer case can be installed. Does anyone know if either of these options will work? In essence, I want to turn the electronic AWD to either a manual shift OR go full time AWD (Borg Wagner 4472). I know the latter will impact gas mileage but I don't drive very far to work and want that rock solid dependability in the winter and not find out in the snow that something isn't right.
I did try searching but I didn't find anything on the interchangeability - or my search terms weren't the best. Thanks in advance for any help!

Found this with more looking:
https://blazerforum.com/forum/engine...se-swap-56690/
So it’s possible but there is risk in the location of the drive shaft....
The Borg Wagner might be a more viable solution.....
