Hello just trying to get a grasp of whats going on in my truck. i have a 02 2dr and when i go to crank sometimes it will just click once. full lights on the dash i leave it for awhile i come back and sometimes it will start sometimes it doesnt. battery is brand new distributor cap and rotor cap are brand new. which leads into my next problem my distributor is making one hell of a noise it comes and goes. ive read on here that the bushings go in those if so does that sound correct to anyone. im just trying to make my baby great again.

 

When it won't start is it always a no crank problem or does it sometimes crank but not run? You will need to travel with a digital meter to find the problem when it won't crank. The next time it wont crank, measure the voltage at the crank fuse while the ignition is in the momentary crank position. This will cut the possibilities in half.

You should probably remove the distr and inspect the gear for wear and the distr for play and noise. I am assuming that you have inspected the cap and rotor.

yeah changed cap and rotor i had someone plug into it with a scanner and reset the sensors and everything and it runs better but it failed to start after. waited five minutes comes right to life.

 

and today its not starting at all just one click per key turn

i just went and tapped my starter and had my brother turn it over and it clicks once and i can see it arcing on one of the starter bolts whenever we click it over sometimes. im not to savy with a wrench so i have no idea what it means but the starter looks rusty as well
