02 Starting Problem
So I was driving and in motion when my blazer died. 120,000 miles on it and I have owned it a year. I listen and pay very close attention to it along with basic maintenance on my ride. Tried to start it. It will crank and turn but wont start. The belts turn but nothing. Normally when I turn the key, I can hear the fuel pump kind of wine and build pressure and it starts right up. Now I dont hear any wine when I turn the key. Is it safe to assume its time to replace the pump/filter? Any tips for replacement would be appreciated. The truck is safe in front of my work now and I plan on doing the work with some buddies in the parking lot. Thanks for the info!
While it's a good chance that the pump is the problem, before I went to the trouble of dropping the tank, I would diagnose it with a pressure check and follow the flowcharts in this post. If it turns out to be the pump, do yourself a favor and get an AC/Delco unless you like doing the job again sooner rather than later.
Well I got it all done... Dropping the tank was not fun, especially since the fuel lines are only a few inches longer than aboslutely necissary lol. The pump was marked wrong so I had to go by instinct on the order of the fuel lines. I think they only fit one way anyways. The fuel filter was completely plugged so now I know why the pump went out. Thanks for all the help!
